Doug is currently serving as the Social Determinants of Health Initiative Director for CCHA, a division of the University of South Carolina’s Arnold School of Public. He has spent over three decades in South Carolina working in a variety of public health settings including the non-profit sector, local and state health departments, and the SC Department of Education. He also worked in the Pee Dee region of SC on a community-based HIV/AIDS/STI prevention education program focused on delivering culturally relevant education and outreach to underserved communities to increase awareness and reduce stigma. More recently, he spent 13 years at Fact Forward, a statewide non-profit focused on increasing access to evidenced based sexual and reproductive health service for adolescents.
Doug received his Master of Public Health from the Arnold School of Public at the University of South Carolina and his Bachelor of Science from the University of North Texas. Doug is also a veteran, serving 12 years in the US Army and Texas National Guard.
As the SDoH Initiative Director, Doug leads and coordinates a statewide effort to address the social drivers of health, working to enhance health outcomes and promote well-being for all South Carolinians.
