Doug is the Director of Community Health Strategy at the Center for Community Alignment and leads the SC Roadmap, a statewide initiative that is aligning state and local policy and infrastructure efforts to address the nonmedical factors impacting health including food insecurity, transportation barriers, and housing quality and affordability. He has spent over three decades in South Carolina working in a variety of public health settings including the non-profit sector, local and state health departments, and the SC Department of Education. He also worked in the Pee Dee region of SC on a community-based HIV/AIDS/STI prevention education program focused on delivering culturally relevant education and outreach to underserved communities to increase awareness and reduce stigma. More recently, he spent 13 years at Fact Forward, a statewide non-profit focused on increasing access to evidenced based sexual and reproductive health service for adolescents.
Doug received his Master of Public Health from the Arnold School of Public at the University of South Carolina and his Bachelor of Science from the University of North Texas. Doug is also a veteran, serving 12 years in the US Army and Texas National Guard.
